Obituary of Vella Grace Parsons (Young)

Age 81, Spryfield, passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on July 20, 2014. Born on Big TancookIsland, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ewart and Sadie (Hutt) Young.Vella was the last member of her immediate family. She was not only a mother to her own children, but to all she met.Many children from the Spryfield area will remember her for her homemade molasses candy and baked bread. Sheenjoyed a good party with her family and friends, making sure everyone was fed, also loved Neil Diamond’s music, playingit often.Vella will be deeply missed by her children; Sadie Tarrant (Kingston); Martha Taylor (Brian); Wanda Julian (Art); David(Debbie), all of Lakeside; Joey; Eddie (Trina), Spryfield; Bobby (Dawn), Hubley; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildrenthat will miss her kind and good ways. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Parsons; sisters, Florence and Eileen;sons-in-law, Stephen Taylor and Robert Tarrant.Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). A celebration of Vella’s life will beheld at 11a.m. Thursday July 24 from City Church Herring Cove Rd., Pastor Jerry Kendricks officiating.
