Obituary of Reginald L. Gamache
GAMACHE, Reginald L - 84, Halifax, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2014 at the Veteran’s Memorial Hospital, Halifax, NS.
Reginald served in the Army in the Korean War from 1950-1953. After his release from the forces, he joined the Halifax Police Department from 1955-1987. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion; past member of Duke of Kent Masonic Lodge, Shriner’s, the Eastern Star and his proudest accomplishment was his years with the Halifax Police Boys Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Menchions (Don); two granddaughters, Dawn Marie (Richard) and Melanie; two grandsons, Shane (Lesley), and Aaron (Kathy); 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Pearl (Prior); son, Gordie; daughters, Annette and Sandra (Wade).
We would like to express our heartfelt thank you to all the staff of 6W at the Veterans Memorial Building. These folks were wonderful to Dad and he loved them all. Thank you for making his last years memorable for him and his family.
Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Friday, September 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel, Rev. Bert Chestnut officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take place in Emmanuel Anglican Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.
