Obituary of Joan Marie Chestnut

With deepest sorrow we mourn the passing of Joan Marie Chestnut, 65, of Halifax.  Joan passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, September 27, 2014.  Over the years Joan held several key positions with T.E.U. (Telephone Employees Union), until recent years, Joan was an active member St. Andrews Anglican Church, Dartmouth.   Born in Shelburne on October 11, 1948, she is survived by her husband, Harold "Bert"; sons, Duane VanNorden (Julie) and Peter (Laura); grandchildren, Riley and Charlotte; parents, Frank and Aileen Acker, Shelburne; brothers, Clark (Elizabeth) and Daniel (Lois), their children, Sarah (Anders), Stephen (Miranda), and Courtney.  She will also be remembered by Sarah’s sons, Rhian and James.  She was predeceased by baby Noah, infant son of Stephen and Miranda.  There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Halifax.  A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on October 2 at 11am in St. Andrews Anglican Church. Interment to follow at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.  Donations in memory may be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church, 8 Locks Rd, Dartmouth NS B2X 2J4.
