Obituary of Alfred A. "Percy" "Sam" Purcell

89, Bridgewater, formerly of Spryfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Ryan Hall Nursing Home. Born in the Magdalene Islands, he was the son of the late Arthur and Muriel (Mosher) (Purcell) Robichaud. Percy will lovingly be remembered, missed and never forgotten by his daughters, Linda (Hector) Norwood, Wileville; Carol (Nolan) Sheppard, Saint John, NB; Janet (Kenny) Fredericks, Timberlea; grandchildren, Gary, Michael, Spencer, Tina and Clarrissa; siblings, Cyril, Frank, Pearl and Dot, all of the Halifax area, Sylvia, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; son, Gary; brothers, Robert and Harold; sisters, Margaret and Marie. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (902-477-5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 14 at 10 AM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Henry Ahorlu as celebrant; with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in Percy’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, IWK or Alzheimer’s Society.
