Obituary of Madeline Virginia "Jenny" Smith Poirier

Age 81, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 6, 2014 at the QEII VG Site surrounded by those who loved her. Born in Beechville, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Walter Wyse and Martha Curry Shephard and step father Joseph Shephard. Jenny worked at various jobs throughout her life which included being a dietician at Camp Hill Hospital, working in the household department at Kings College as well as at the Victoria general hospital path lab. Jenny will be remembered for her talented cooking and sense of humor. She is survived by her daughter Dale; sons Danny (Linda) and Bert; grandchildren Lisa (Andrew) Tylene and Danielle, all of Halifax; sisters Martha (Ronald), Marjorie (Henry), Doris (Percy) all of Beechville and Susan (Patrick), Quebec; brothers Ossie (Muriel), Beechville and Michael (Pearleen), Halifax as well as several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Jenny was predeceased by sisters Viola and Shirley; brothers Ervin, Leo, Joey and Sydney. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. A service of remembrance will take place on Friday November 14 at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Officiated by Pastor Lloyd Grant. In lieu  of flowers donations can be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.  Reception to follow.
