Obituary of Viola Irene Zinck

Age 97, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2014 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Born on April 21, 1917, Viola was a daughter of the late David and Rhoda (Zinck) Morash. A woman of few words, Viola always had a smile that would speak volumes. Travelling was a passion of Viola’s but she was always there when her family and friends needed her. Playing cards and the Hawaiian guitar would keep viola busy if she wasn’t spending time at Tammy and Chris’s cottage, a place she loved dearly. When she was able, Viola also loved to spend time shopping with her granddaughter Sherry. Her sense of humor and strong faith were something that others loved about her. Viola is survived by her daughters Marion Bennett and Rhoda Macdonald; son Kenneth Zinck. Being a 6th generation grandmother, Viola will be missed by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, great-great-great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Viola was pre deceased by her husband Basil Cecil Zinck; parents David and Rhoda Morash; sons Kieth, Lionel, and David; grandsons Gary, Terry and Baby Terry; brothers Gilbert, Clyde and Roy as well as sisters Sarah Mackinnon, Phoebe Cleveland, Pearl Morash and Bertha Zinck. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601) where a visitation will be held this evening, Tuesday December 2, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A celebration of life will take place Wednesday December 3 at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Burial to take place at Sunrise Park cemetery. Donations in Viola’s name can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. The family would like to express their gratitude towards the Staff of QEII 8.4 with special thanks going to nurse Sarah, Dr. Bussey and Dr. Reardon. A special thanks also to Viola’s care giver Angie along with grandchildren Sherry Bailey (Slaunwhite). .
