Obituary of Wallace D. "Wally" Peters
72, Halifax. Wally Peters, Husband of Diane (Sampson), originally from Sydney, Cape Breton, passed away suddenly on November 28, 2014, doing what he loved; hunting. Wally was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved sports,; he was a heck of a ball player and loved the Habs. In his younger years he served on the Bonaventure and worked for Sydney Steel. He was a volunteer fire fighter at the Grand Lake Road Fire Department. Later in life he was the president of the Injured Workers Association of Halifax. He was a friend of Bill.
Besides his loving wife, Diane, he is survived by his son, Joe (Claudette); daughters, Joy (Ed) and Deana (Ray); grandchildren, Jessica, Mariah, Alexandra, Sylvia (Johnny), Evan and Davelle; brother, Alvin (Bernadette); sister, Serella (Weldon); many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Margaret; sister, Lorraine.
In keeping with Wally’s wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 5 at 10 AM in St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road. A celebration of his life will be held in Cape Breton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
