Obituary of Edgar George Slaunwhite
It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Edgar George Slaunwhite, age 81 of Terence Bay, on December 2, 2014. Edgar was a son of the late Rufus and Sadie (Spears) Slaunwhite.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Avril "Sis"; daughters, Cathy Whalen Terence Bay, Trina Coxworthy (Don Horne), Chester; son, Todd (Sherri), Halifax; foster son, Joe Way (Donna), Kitchener, Ontario; sister, Anna Harrie (Dick) and brother, Jack Slaunwhite (Shirley) Terence Bay; grandchildren, Terri-Lynn, Corey, Tanner, Carter; great-grandsons, Tyler and Chandler. He was predeceased by brothers, Harry "Diddle", Gerald and Donnie.
Edgar retired in 1992 from the Halifax Longshoreman’s Association after a 38 year career, a job he loved. Edgar’s second passion was being on the waters sword fishing. Edgar was a hard-worker all his life. He was loved, he will be missed and never forgotten.
The family thanks Dr. Weeks, nurses, in particular Karen Vickers, the staff of 7.3 of the Halifax Infirmary, QEII and Susan for your love and support.
Cremation has taken place, no visitation. Funeral service will be held in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 10AM. Reception to follow in Terence Bay Fire Hall. Family flowers only. Donations in Edgar’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Terence Bay or the charity of your choice.
