Obituary of Curtis Bruce Jarvis
Age 60, of Lakeside, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2014 at the Victoria General. Born on October 30, 1954, Curtis was a son of the late George and Ruby (DeLeon) Jarvis. The smile that Curt left on everyone’s face just from his presence will be deeply missed. Curtis worked for the Public Works Government Services Canada for 30 years where he was heavily involved with the union and was recognized for his hard work with numerous awards. Outside of work Curtis kept himself busy with his family, playing music and bowling. He will be remembered for his smile and the nicknames that he had for everyone. Curtis was an amazing man that was truly loved by all that he came into contact with.
Curtis is survived by his wife Beth Shephard; son Curtis Paul (Alysia), East Hants; step son Shon (Yvette), Beechville; daughters Shyla Johnson, Georgina Lea "Jenee", and step daughter Nychelle, all of Halifax; brothers Phillip (Theresa), Coldbrook; Larry (Chrissy) Winnipeg; Alfred (Darlene), Spryfield; Roger, Halifax; sister Deacon Patsy (Wilfred), Beechville; Emilie, Beverly, Elsie (Mike), Juanita (Allan), all of Coldbrook; Grandson Makii; Granddaughters Chayce and Josie; step grandson Jerrell; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; Special son Deni and Godmother Thelma. Curtis was predeceased by his son Scott Brett Somers; brother George Jr and special brother Leo Shephard. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all who cared for Curtis during these difficult times and special thanks to the staff of 8A Victoria General Site.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Halifax, (477-5601). A celebration of life will take place at Beechville Baptist Church Monday December 29 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Curtis’ name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
