Obituary of Garnet "Ducky" Rose
It is with profound sadness that the family of Garnet Rose announces his sudden passing at home with his loving family by his side on January 6th, 2015. Born in Halifax, Garnet was a son of the Late Garnet and Juanita Rose. Garnet loved spending time with his family whether it was playing the drums at the family party’s or dancing it up on the dance floor to some of his favorite tunes. Music was one of his favorite passions in life along with sports. Garnet will be remembered for all the great coaching and cheering he did when his son and grandsons played hockey or baseball. Garnet had worked for the city of Halifax at the recreation Department and later on he worked for Sir Frederick Fraser School for the blind.
Garnet is survived by his soul mate and best friend of 43 years, Theresa (Bellefontaine), his only child Timmy (Delores) all of Williamswood. He is survived by Sister’s and brother’s Gary, Gregory, Donna, Annette and Susan. He will be forever loved and remembered by his two grandson’s Travis (Lynsey), Taylor (Julia), great grandson Colton Rose and many nieces and nephews.Garnet was predeceased by his sister Linda and brother Terry.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where a visitation will take place from 6-8 pm, Friday January 9th. Funeral service will be held on Saturday January 10th at 10 am at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield. Family flowers only.
