Obituary of John Joseph Rudgene Rogers

Age 84, Halifax, passed away peacefully March 5, 2015 at the V.G. Site QEII. Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (MacInnes) Rogers. John had served with the Canadian Armed Forces and had fought in the Korean War. After serving he went to work with the Corpes of Commissionaires and was posted in many places. He is survived by wife Margaret "Susie" (Cleveland); son, Joffre; step sons, Chris Stevens, Lee Gaetz (Tammy); daughter, Sonya; step daughters, Yvonne Stevens, Tina Gaetz; brothers, Ernie (Mona), Cecil (his companion Lynn); sisters, Mary Ferguson (Dave), Celina, Eva Vanek (Joseph); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Alexander in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., where a service of remembrance will be held Wednesday March 11 at 12 p.m. Rev. Catherine MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
