William A. "Bill" Montgomery

Obituary of William A. "Bill" Montgomery

77, Halifax, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2015.  Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Hector and Harriet "Mitzi" Montgomery.   Bill was an entrepreneur from an early age.  From his paper route, to delivering drug store prescriptions on his bicycle, he moved on to Ford Motor Credit Company.  Bill loved cars and worked most of his life with Ford through Fairley and Stevens, and Mosher Motors, even in retirement he couldn’t resist the right deal. In 1966, Bill married Beverley Eastman (Montgomery).  Together they shared a love for their family, their cottage, and most importantly, their dogs, most recently Monty.  A perfect day to Bill would be an early morning walk with Monty, managing projects around the property with his close friends, a boat ride on Porter’s Lake, and a family BBQ.  He would often remark these days made him happy. Bill was passionate about his car and his boat.  He had a keen sense of how things should be done, and would ensure everything was just right.  You would see Bill polishing his car each day in the driveway.  His boat was always immaculate and ship shape. Bill was a loving husband, brother-in-law, and Uncle. He is survived by his wife, Beverley (Eastman); his extended family consisting of many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd.  A graveside service will be held at a later date in Camp Hill Cemetery.  Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
