Obituary of Beatrice Marie Peters (Larade)
Age 84, Halifax, passed away May 9, 2015 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Cheticamp, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Judique (Muise) Larade.
Beatrice enjoyed working at the IWK Hospital and TUNS and was known as "Mom" to many of the students. She was a proud member of the Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and the Cape Breton Club. Beatrice was immensely proud of her family and her grandchildren, enjoyed bingo, home cooking and baking, watching hockey (Montreal) and a search-a-word book was always within reach. Beatrice was a devoted Catholic and one of her fondest memories was a trip to Saint Anne de Beaupré. She was a loving mother and wife and affectionately known as Aunt Bea to many of her nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by anyone who knew her and her great love for children - and all the beautiful cheeks she pinched.
She is survived by sons, Roger (Yvonne) and Richard (Pam); sisters, Sophie Roach; Marie-Cecile Malone; Stella Michaud (Yvon); Theresa Creasor (Walter); brothers, Leo (Lucy); Andre (Joan); Marcel (Sylvia); grandchildren, Ellen, Michael, Kyle and Nicole Peters, Greg, Lindsay and Ben Bertrand; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Peters, brothers Pierre Theodore, Patsy, Alphonse and Cyril; sister Margaret Anne Leforte.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Funeral mass will take place on Friday May 15 at 11a.m. from Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish 6032 Normandy Dr. Halifax. Reception to follow in church hall. Interment to take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia www.alzheimer.ca/en/ns, or to the charity of your choice.
Beatrice's family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Parkstone Enhanced Care. Special thank-you's to all of our relatives that either found time to visit with Beatrice or chatted with her on the phone. Beatrice loved having visitors and long phone conversations. Also a special thank-you to Yvette Gagnon of Comforting Companions Care Providers, your compassion and personal care towards Beatrice during your weekly visits was very much appreciated, thank you.
