Obituary of Edward Louis "Ted" Levy Sr.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ted, age 74 of Prospect, who died suddenly at home on Friday May 29, 2015. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward G. and Marie (Christian) Levy.
He was predeceased by son, Edward S.; brother, John; grandson Sean Mason and several aunts and uncles. Ted was in the Navy for 12 years and received the Medal of Good Conduct. He worked at the dockyard in the control systems shop until his retirement in 1995. Ted loved fishing, hunting, riding his ATV and going out on his boat. He was an avid reader, had a great sense of humor and loved his beagles. Ted was a quiet, thoughtful man who said what he meant and meant what he said. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father or grandfather. Ted was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 153, White’s Lake and held many offices over the years including that of President. He received the RCL Meritorious Service Award in 1989. Teed will be remembered by his wife of 56 years, Jean (Stewart); daughters, Christine (John), Darlene; grandchildren CJ (Cheryl), Bonnie, Natasha (Jason), Edward M. (Chistianna); great grandchildren Cameron, Cayden, Angel, Bonita and Emma.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home 149 Herring Cove Rd., where a Celebration of Life service will be held Friday June 5, 2015 at 2 p.m., Reverend Russell Saulnier officiating. Interment will take place for Ted and his son Edward S. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Prospect. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the SPCA.
