Obituary of Thelma Garnet Martell (Roop)

Age 77, Halifax, passed away suddenly at home on June 19, 2015. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Gray and Hazel Roop. She is survived by her children, Eric Upshaw (Cheryl Bishop), Heather Martell (Frederick Fraser), Roseanne Martell-Bernard (John Bernard), Laura Martell(Rodney Tibbo), Mary Ann Martell (Paul Killorn) and Geraldine Martell (John Bonin); sisters, Viola, Elmay and Marion; grandchildren Annmarie (Rakesh Thakurdin), Derrick, Sabrina O’Neil, Jeremy, Brandon, Shaquille, Donald, Ricky, Rodney Jr., Paul and Raytesha, Raytell; great grandchildren Niesha, Harmony, Sheleea, Jayden, Jordan, Elianna, Bannah, Lola, Lennox and Madden. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Martell; son, Richard; brother, Gerald; sister, Dorothy; step father Charles Roop. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., where visitation will be held today June 22 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday June 23 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Oakridge Memory Garden Lower Sackville.
