Obituary of Ronald "Scott" Coons
Age 52 of Halifax, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 following a long illness. Born in Halifax, he was the youngest son of Miriam Frances and the late George Ronald Coons. He is survived by his wife, Michelle; daughter, Danielle (Mitch); son Zachary; grandchildren, Benjamin and Rhyan; sisters, Gail (Gary), Rhonda (Greg), Kelly (Bruce); brother, Todd (Jo-Anne); several nieces and nephews; and fondly remembered by special friend, Tanya and special daughter, Olivia.
Scott was a kind-hearted and generous person who wouldn't hesitate to drop everything in order to help someone out, even a stranger. He was an adventurous guy who set his sights on trying to experience everything, at least once, whether it was skydiving, racing cars, etc. While these adventures often were to the dismay of friends and family, they always made for good stories after the fact. Scott will be remembered by all as a man who truly loved and lived life his way. He was a smart, hardworking jack-of-all trades - could fix just about anything. No matter what he tried, he did it well and couldn’t resist a challenge!
Scott was a Great Dad, Proud Papa and the "Coolest" Uncle to many of his nieces and nephews. "Coonsie" was a good friend to many and was ever so grateful to have so many dear friends who stayed by his side right to the end. He was a strong and determined individual who would tackle whatever needed doing - this strength and determination were best demonstrated as his illness progressed, making the best of and setting new goals for himself (and others!!) to manage the obstacles encountered along the way.
For Scott, the little things in life meant the most: the smell of fresh cut grass, the sound and smell of the ocean or the sound of birds singing. The most important thing in Scott's life however, were his friends and family.
Scott has impacted many lives and taught us all some valuable lessons during his short time with us. We take comfort in the fact that he was looking forward to reuniting with his Dad and friends. Scott will live on in our hearts forever.
On behalf of Scott, our family wishes to thank Northwood Continuing Care and Shannex Parkstone and so many of Scott's friends for the care and compassion shown Scott during his illness.
