Obituary of Maizie Janet Gray
GRAY, (Jollimore) Maizie Janet – 78, Sambro. It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Saturday, August 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Terence Bay, she was a daughter of the late Stanford and Annie (Slaunwhite) Jollimore.
Mom was a caring woman that always put everyone else ahead of herself. She took on the worry of the whole family. She was loving and kind with a huge heart and would give her last dollar to anyone that needed it. Mom had a love for music, being married to a fiddler for 50 years, and loved to dance. She worked at Sears for many years until her retirement. Mom loved to read and could tell you anything about any actor on TV. She was very brave and never complained during her battle with cancer, she worried more of her own children and her favorite beagles at home, Ginger and Roxie, having had a special attachment to Roxie since her birth.
Mom had a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Jordan, Chris, Josh, Bradley, Andrew, Jefferey, Ashley, Jessica and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lindan, Cameron, Rylie, Rowan, Tyler and Caydan. They love and will miss her dearly. She is survived by daughters, Carolyn Gray, Herring Cove, Holly (Billy) LeBlanc, Sambro, Natalie (Randy) MacLean, Herring Cove, and Stephanie (Mark) Newcombe, Sambro; brother, Charles "Buddy", Halifax; sister in-law, Mildred Shubley, Terence Bay; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Hubert Gray; son, Blair Arthur Gray and two infant sons; sisters, Audrey, Susan "Susie"; brother, Ernest "Ernie".
Many thanks to the staff of Northwood Manor 4th floor as well as to the staff of Northwood centre 8th floor for the loving care given to Maizie; also, special thanks to Pam Slobodesky for her compassionate care and support.
In keeping with Maizie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 2PM in St. James United Church, Sambro, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will take place in St. James United Church Cemetery. Donations in Maizie’s memory may be made to St. James United Church or to the NS Canadian Cancer Society.
