Obituary of Marie Jeanette Martell (LeBlanc)

It is with heavy hearts that the Martell family shares the passing of Marie Jeanette Martell at age 82 on August 27, 2015. She died peacefully at the QEII hospital. Born in Arichat, CB in 1933 to the late Clara and Jeffrey LeBlanc. She moved to Halifax at age 16, where she met the love of her life and husband of 62 years, the late Maurice Henry Martell. Jeanette loved music, dancing and playing cards, but the biggest loves of her life were her family. A family who are brothers and sister, aunts and uncles and cousins by blood, but who are honest to goodness friends brought together by choice and not by obligation. This is the family that she raised and she did her job outstandingly. She leaves behind her last remaining sibling, Lubin (Agathe), her sons and their wives, Morris (Karen), Mark (Sharron), Blair (Janice), her daughter Sheila (Gordon) and her daughter-in-law Barb. She will be forever loved and missed by grandchildren and great-grandchildren Michelle (Tiffany), Amy (Mark), Josh (Angela), Jessica (Ian), Sarah (Adam), Amanda (Abe), Kyle, Alex, Andrew (Jill), Reiley, Aria and Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her 6 brothers and 2 sisters and her sons Joseph at birth and Paul Henry. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., where visitation will be held Monday August 31 from 11a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by a Service of Remembrance at 1 p.m. Father Alfred Eshun as celebrant. Interment to take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
