Obituary of Mary Carmel Durnford (Harris)

Age 83, Halifax, passed away peacefully December 6, 2015 at Melville Gardens. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Bridget Harris. Mary was a talented seamstress, she immigrated in the 1950’s at Peir 21. She loved music, dancing and a drink at the pubs. She enjoyed walks to the Dingle, swimming in the ocean and adored her pets. Mary is survived by daughters, Adele (Kevin) Saulnier, Bernadette Durnford; grandchildren, Keenan and Jacqueline Saulnier, Nicholas Shay; great grandchildren Aiden, Gracie and Taylor; brothers, Frank and Sheamus Harris; sisters, Birdie Hill, Teresa Buchner and Rosie Donegan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by grandson, Cory Shay; brothers, Anthony, Willie and Robert Harris; Sisters, Eileen Gallagher and Patricia Fraser. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. No visitation or service by her request. Interment will take place at a later date in Oakridge Memory Gardens Lower Sackville. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
