Obituary of James E. "Jimmy" Raftus

53, Lakeside, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Cecil and Amelia Raftus. Jimmy worked with great pride for the charitable organization Big Brothers Big Sisters. He enjoyed watching sports, playing guitar and most of all spending time with his grandson, Lyndon, enjoying his ball games. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jimmy is survived by his partner, Sharon Pyke; stepchildren, Shannon (Mark), Richard (Lezlie), Stacey (Mike); grandchildren, Dealynn, Kensley and Lyndon; siblings, Christine (David), Cathy (Billy), Danny, Doug, Anne (Bob), Sandra (Randy), Rene and their families. He was predeceased by daughter, Brenda Lee, whom he loved dearly. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22 from 1-3 PM. A service of remembrance will follow at 3PM in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross
