Obituary of Mildred Dorothy Blackmore

Blackmore, Mildred Dorothy:  90, KlineHeights.  It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family of Mildred Blackmore, announce her peaceful passing at home with her family on February 16, 2016.  Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late John Abner and Annie (Marryatt) Keating.  Mildred loved her family dearly and always enjoyed Christmas, especially the family gatherings at her home.  For many years she had worked for Sears Catalog, retiring after over 25 years of service.  She was an avid fan of Charlie Pride and she treasured her autographed photo of him.  She enjoyed playing bingo, puzzle books, and jigsaw puzzles.    She is survived by her son, David (Barbara), Milford Station, her daughter, Gail Publicover, at home, a brother, Abner Keating, Sackville, 5 cherished grandchildren, Janine (Keith), Scott David (Tim), John (Amanda), Angela (Craig), and Lindsey (Jared), 4 treasured great-grandchildren, with another due to arrive in June of this year, 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy, her sisters, Mary Avery and Florence Pettipas, and brothers, Morris, Gerald, and Kenneth.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dana and Fay for all their support and friendship over the years in caring for Mom.  Also, a special thanks to her caregiver, Rosanna.   Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11 AM from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Purcell’s Cove Road, Halifax, NS.  Burial will take place at a later date.  Family flowers only, in lieu, donations in memory of Mildred may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to any animal shelter.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com
