Obituary of Doris Cecilia Gourley (Power)

Age 89, Halifax, passed away April 13, 2016 at the V.G. Site QEII. Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Bridget (Gorman) Power. Doris spent her early years living in the West End of Halifax and the remainder in the Spryfield community. She shared a great love for St. Michael’s Church and volunteered for many years with St. Vincent de Paul Society. Her sense of humor and timing were impeccable and her ability to make you feel special was always in the fore front. Doris is survived by her close friend, Connie Bambury; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Frederick; brothers, Kenneth, Gordon, Warren; sisters, Mary, Florence, Olive, Irene and Marjorie. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. where visitation will be held Friday April 15 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place Saturday April 16 at 12 p.m. from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church 14 St. Michael’s Ave., Father Alfred Eshun as celebrant. Interment to take place in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
