Obituary of Edith Claudia Stanhope

97, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Melville Lodge, surrounded by her family. Born in Petit-de-Grat, she was a daughter of the late Albany and Martha Jane (Boudreau) Landry. Edith was a gentle lady who loved her family very much, she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Geri (Bill) Marshall, Dartmouth; daughter in-law, Judy Stanhope, Halifax; she was a loving nanny to 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, with another on the way; sisters, Estelle Marleau, Gatineau, QC and Eleanor LeFort, Charlottetown, PE; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Claudia Rocheleau; son, John; sisters, Leola, Claire and Aurine; brothers, Tim, Clem, Harry, Alfred, Louis and Charlie. Special thanks to the staff of Melville Lodge for making moms last month happy and comfortable. In keeping with Edith’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 10AM in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family flowers only.
