Obituary of Bernadette Teresa Hearns (Henry)
83 of Halifax, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29th, 2016. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland she was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Suzanne Henry. Bernadette worked at the Dominion / IGA on the Herring Cove Road for over 20 years and was a member of the St. Michael’s CWL. Bernadette was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Arthur Hearns and is survived by her children, Brian, Carmen (Greg), Sean (Madeleine), and Kevin (Marian); her grandchildren, Brian (Teresa), Tiffany, Melissa, Arthur, Erin, Christine, Dylan, Ian and Allison; her great grandchildren, Brook, Kenneth, Santana and Joseph; and her great-great grandson, Damien. Bernadette was a social butterfly who loved a great cup of tea. She enjoyed spending time with all her friends at Ramsgate Lane, especially her puzzle buddies and Ellen and Bernie. Special thanks to the staff at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation and Arthritis Centre and the QEII unit 8.4. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nanny and great nanny who will be sadly missed by all. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 4 at 11AM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
