Obituary of Mary Ellen McDonald

Age 81, Halifax, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017 in Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late, John and Hazel Harding. Mary Ellen lived on Long Pond in Herring Cove for 50 years. She held a variety of  administrative positions with Department of National Defence, St. John's Ambulance, Halifax Ladies College, TUNS and Dal Faculty Associations. She was also involved in Brownies, Cerebral Palsy Association and the Atlantic Area Artists Association. She was an avid Blue Jays fan and loved to watch figure skating. Mary Ellen and her husband, Gordon enjoyed driving along the Nova Scotia coastline and taking pictures that were often used as inspiration for their oil paintings. She will be miss by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gordon; daughter, Patricia (Andrew Smith), Bedford; son, William, Halifax; brother Fred (Emily), Ottawa; sister, Beatrice, Cambridge, ON; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the 4th floor staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care for their care and kindness. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where a Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, April 21 at 10 AM, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Easter Seals, Nova Scotia Abilities Foundation or Arthritis Society.
