Obituary of John Henry "Jack" Shelley
Age 98, Halifax, passed away Monday April 24, 2017 with family and friends by his side at the Veterans Memorial Building. Born in Burnt Islands, NL, he was the third child of the late Henry and Margaret (Croucher) Shelley.
He enjoyed wintering over in Florida with Marie and was a great story teller, including lots of exaggeration for effect. He will be missed by all who knew him. Jack is survived by his son, Dennis (Tina), Coquitlam, BC.; his brother, Frank (Mae); sister-in-law, Kathleen "Kay" and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years. Marie; his brother, Walter; sisters, Anne Boutilier (Earl), Christina (Hedley) Ivany and Dorothy Beaton (Charles).
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday May 2 at 11a.m. from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church 6 St. Michael’s Ave. After the mass, a reception and celebration of life will be held at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery Bedford Hwy. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
