Obituary of Amelia Rose "Millie" Clark (Demontreux)
Age 96, Halifax, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 18, 2017, at Maplestone Enhanced Care. Born in Grand Banks, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Auguste and Marie (Lelorieux) Demontreux.
Millie was the happiest when she was with the grandbabies, whether she was rocking, singing or reading to them, she had a way with the little ones, she was full of life, feisty and always spoke her mind. In the 1940's-1950's she and her husband, ran Bills Canteen in Boutilier's Point, later after moving to the city, she worked at the Halifax Infirmary for over 20 years, until she retired at Gerrard Hall in the early 70's. Millie was blessed to have lived her senior years with her youngest daughter Cindy, her husband Gerry, along with 3 of her grandchildren in a home that always filled love and laughter. Millie is survived by her children Cindy Parris (Gerry); John Clark (Lisa); Joanne Sparks; Roger Clark (Huguette); 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; siblings, Augusta, Bill, Therese, John, Madeliene, Alberta, and beloved son-in-law, Jr. Sparks.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., where visitation will be Wednesday, November 22 from 1:30-3 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, Pastor Steve Ashton officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.
