Obituary of Janet Lillian Stewart

99, Hammonds Plains, formerly of Sandy Point, Shelburne, died peacefully on April 28, 2018 at White Hills Long Term Care.  Born in 1919 in Sandy Point, she was a daughter of the late Johnathan Henry and Laura Cordelia (Pennington) Stewart. 

Janet received her degree in nursing in Montreal and worked in Vancouver for a short period and then moved to Montreal where she worked in the nursing profession for many years until she retired. She was a long-standing member of Unity Church in Montreal and later Trinity United Church in Shelburne. Janet was a familiar face at the breakfasts and suppers held at the Sandy Point Lighthouse Community Centre.

Janet was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by brothers, Charles and Lewis and sisters, Mary, Ellen and Esme.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church, Shelburne, Rev. JoAnne McFadden officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or charity of your choice.
