Obituary of Ellis Baxendale MacKeigan

78, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the QEII Halifax Infirmary, surrounded by family. Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Amy McKeigan.

Dale began his professional life as a Licensed Funeral Director in Cape Breton and retired from his position in Sales with Bens Bakery in Halifax. He was a dedicated, long time member of Emmanuel Anglican Church, having served in many capacity’s; lay reader, warden, parish council member, church choir and dinner theatre. He was also a proud, long time member of the Masons. In his younger years he was a coach and referee of Hockey, Lacrosse and Ball, and most recently, a broadcaster on NWCB at Northwood. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla “Sue”; sons, Wayne and David, all of Halifax; step daughter, Marilyn, Sydney. He was predeceased by his brother, Leonard; daughter in-law, Christina.

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 4 from 7-9 PM. Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, July 5 at 2 PM in Emmanuel Anglican Church, Spryfield, Rev. Michelle Bull officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale’s memory may be made to Emmanuel Anglican Church.
