I want to express how sorry Iam for the familys loss. There are some very
comforting words found in Gods Word, the Bible, at Acts the 17th. chapter,
verses 24 & 25 where God is called "the source of life"......the One who
gave life to all living creatures is certainly capable of restoring life to our
loved ones who have died. Another comforting scripture is found in the Bible
book of Job, the 14th. chapter, verses 14 & 15. It speaks about how God
longs to bring back those who are in His memory & see them live on earth
again. I hope this brings the family comfort. My sincere condolence to you &
yours. Janet https://www.jw.org/finder?docid=1011214&item=pub-imv_4_

To the Gillis Family,
I was a tenant at 10 Tamarack while Gordon was the Superintendent. He was always there when I needed him. He had a great smile and sense of humor. I stayed in the building as long as I did only because of Gordon and Dorthy. He will be truly missed.
God Bless.

To the Gillis Family (especially to Alf and Lorraine),
So very sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. I knew of Gordon in my youth, as my father who was RCMP, often mentioned him and praised his culinary skills. I knew about Gordon before I met Alf who became my neighbour in later years. When I mentioned Alf's name to Dad, he asked if he was related to Gordon and the connection was made. Although I only met Gordon a few times, I know that he was well liked by my father. My heart goes out to the family. Deepest condolences, and thoughts and prayers for you as you go through this very difficult time!

I was very saddened to read of Gordie's passing. I was one of those young Mounties at Thornvale in the early 70's. He was a very kind and gentle person and extremely generous to all of us. We knew where Gordie kept the key to the ice cream and most evenings we would open the cooler and have a little. One evening we broke the key and could not lock the cooler. I called Gordie at home and told him of our miss adventure. He laughed and told me he knew we were into the ice cream and not to worry. The next day he just smiled at me and never said another word about the ice cream. A great man who will be missed by many.
My condolences to Gordie's family.

The first weekend I spent in Nova Scotia was at Thornvale Barracks, when I arrived from Depot in 1966. I met Gordie and a lot of great single fellows. A few days later I was posted to Cape Breton. I returned to Thornvale for training courses, and Gordie remembered me and we had many great discussions about what life in the Force would be like. He was an icon and will be very fondly remembered. May he rest in peace in the arms of his God.

So sorry to hear of "Gordies" passing. I remember him well as a GREAT chef and most of all a fine man who always greeted you with a big smile and a kind word. It was real pleasure to share his company. Too bad there were not more "Gordies" in our world today. We sure lost one of the best.

Hi Folks - I always called him "Gordie" - he was one of the boys when I lived at Thornvale and loved to play "bid whist" - At one time, he even invited a crew of us to his apartment for a game. As a cook, he was the best but did not come close to his great personality -
Gordie, you will be truly remembered - Jim Scott
