Our deepest sympathy for the loss of a precious, sweet and dear soul. We shared a huge part of our lives as neighbours and friends with your family. Your mother was godmother to my youngest son, Trent. On his last visit to Halifax, while visiting with her, he was overwhelmed by her ever present energy and sweet nature. He said to me, my godmother is special... kind and genuine. For me, I will always remember that she made the best chocolate fudge cookies ever. We have so many lovely memories. We will miss her but keep her in our thoughts and prayers. Always and sincerely, The MacDonald family

I remember as a young boy going down the Village Rd to visit my mom's best friend. For me it was time to play but for mom and Rita it was so much more. When I grew older and moved away from Herring Cove, every time we visited, we made the trek with mom to visit Rita. Her energy and kindhearted nature were inspirational. Please accept my sincere condolences.
