Obituary of Eldon Joseph Pellerine

Age 80 of Halifax; It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eldon on September 16, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.  Born in Larry’s River on December 11th, 1937, he was the youngest son of the late David and Mary Jane (Pettipas) Pellerine.  Eldon retired from the Halifax School Board and then worked as an usher at the Metro Centre until he retired in March, 2018.  He loved to read the newspaper cover to cover especially the sports section, a diehard fan of the Canadians, the Blue Jays and the Mooseheads.  Eldon was very particular about his personal appearance whether mowing the grass or attending a gala event.  He was a former member of the Spryfield Lions Club and a member of Council Knights of Columbus 5017.  He was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish for over 50 years having served as Eucharistic Minister, Usher, and in other activities. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary (MacEachen), sons Stephen (Janet), Beaver Bank, and Blaine, Ardoise, granddaughter Samantha, the apple of Grampie’s eye, one brother Charlie (Eileen) Cole Harbour, niece Charlene and nephew Graham, cousins and numerous relatives by marriage.  Besides his parents Eldon was predeceased by his brother, Vincent. A special thank you to the nurses on 7.3, Halifax Infirmary for their care.   Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday September 19, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral mass will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Thursday, September 20 at 11 a.m. with Father David presiding. A reception will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flower donations can be made to St. Michael’s Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
