Obituary of Michael Gerald Oddy
Age 82 of Halifax. We are sad to announce the passing of Michael Gerald Oddy on December 2, 2018 at the QEII Health Science Center. Born in England, he was a son of the late Gerald and Dora Oddy. He immigrated to Canada after the war and first settled in Vancouver and later in Halifax. Mike then began to work as a Senior Trust Officer at Confederation Life and later at T.D. Canada Trust, until he retired. Mike was an avid modeller. He volunteered for 29 years at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. This is where Mike completed the Diorama of the Halifax Dock Yards in the 1800, this can be seen on display at the museum. For his volunteer work, he was honoured with the CTV Atlantic Maritime of the week award on July 15, 2016. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan (Conrad) Oddy; sons, Mark, Prospect Bay and Bruce (Cathy Ellis), Hatchet Lake; granddaughter, Alisa (Matt) Greer; grandson, Steven Oddy; step grandsons, Morgan and William Colp; great-grandchildren, Cohen, Sianna and Gracilee Greer; sisters, April (George) Graham and Susan Oddy. Mike will be especially missed by his precious fur-baby Amy. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS. As per Mikes wishes, there will be no funeral service, a visitation will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Association of Canada.
