Obituary of Richard Wayne Bentley

73, Halifax, passed away on January 3, 2019 at the QEII, VG Site, Palliative Care Unit. His beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia was at his side.Richard was born in Truro on March 7, 1945. He worked in the hospitality industry in Halifax for 43 years.  He had the privilege of serving the Queen of England and many other political dignitaries and celebrities. He loved country music, travelling, spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching wrestling and CNN.Richard is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; sons, Francis Power (Annette), Darren (Kim), Michael; grandchildren, Jeffery (Kat), Jeremy, Andrew Power, Kiara, Tye; great grandchild, Zandra; aunt, Marina MacDougall; numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Elsie Bentley; grandparents, John and Ida MacDougall; brother, Vernon Bentley and grandson, Adam Power.The Bentley family send a huge thank you to all the Capital Health nurses, doctors and VON who were involved with Richard’s care.  A special “thank you” goes to Richard’s homecare worker Eric Abejeco.We thank all of our friends and family who visited over the past few months.  Please know it meant so very much to Richard to see each and every one of you.We send a very special “thank you” to Sissy (Jean) and Lois.  You both helped us so much during Richard’s illness. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Bayers Road on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Paying respects at 10:30 a.m. There will be a small reception after the service in the church hall.
