Obituary of Carman Marshall Joseph Martell

95, Timberlea

Feb 6th 1924 – July 10th 2019

 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carman Martell. He was affectionally known as “Grumpy” and will be missed by family, friends and neighbors.

He served 29 years as a dental technician in the Canadian Armed Forces where he was known as “Joe” Martell. During his service he did two overseas tours with NATO, one in Cyprus and one in Egypt. After retirement he enjoyed his many salvage yard trips with his friend Bas Murphy bringing home whatever treasures they found. Later on, he enjoyed his vegetable garden jigsaw puzzles, models and shopping trips to Value Village.

Left behind to remember him is son, James “Jim” Martell (Edie Orenstein), Stephen Martell (Gail Dixon); daughter, Denise Vining (Russell); grandchildren, Colin Martell, Kelly Martell (Ryan Walker), Cody Vining, Shelby Vining and Haley Vining. He is survived by siblings, Bill Martell, Frank Martell, Marie Morton and Eleanor Ivanko, numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, George and Arthemese Martell; sisters Alice Curtis, Jeanie Shultz.

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., where visitation will take place on Monday July 15th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday July 16th at 11am at from the funeral home chapel. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
