Obituary of Edith Maude MacDonnell

Born December 17, 1924 in Alberton South P.E.I., daughter of the late Michael and Bessie (Dunn) Kinch, Edie passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary hospital on October 8, 2019.

A loyal employee of Eaton’s for 35 years, she was a member of the Mayflower Curling Club’s Business Ladies group. After retirement Edie enjoyed playing cards especially with her friends in the Nor-West Senior’s club where she also served for a term as president. She spent many weekends and holidays with family in her second home in Judique North, Cape Breton. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol A; son, Kevin; grandsons, Greg (Annette) and Jeff (Amy); granddaughter, Jennifer Brown (Malcolm); several great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Loretta MacFarlane. Edie was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Ron; her son, Gary; sisters, Marg; Florence; Jean; Kay; Bunny and Vivian; brothers, George, Jim, Graham, Ray, Robert, Phil and Mike and daughter-in-law, Carol L.

Arrangements are under the care of of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Spryfield where a visitation will be held Thursday, October 10 from 2pm to 4pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 11 at 2pm at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 6476 Bayers Road, Halifax with Father Francesco Pirisi officiating. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
