Oh I am so sorry to see Catherine passed away. I was just trying to find her on Facebook and googled her name and came across this. Catherine helped me for years - years ago. I was in an abusive relationship and she helped me realize I was worth more and helped tremendously with coping skills and just being there. You were truly one of a kind and such a great loss! Rest easy and thank you for being there for me!

I googled Catherine because someone I know in Halifax was looking for someone to see for mental health support and I wanted to recommend her. Nearly 12 years ago, in my final year of university, I was in a very low place mentally and was referred onward by my doctor. I had a pretty horrible experience with the ins and outs of navigating the admin side of the service, and when I finally got to see someone it was Catherine. It was the first experience I had had with any sort of support, and I think I only saw her for a few sessions, but I still feel the impact today. It was the first time I started to examine why I was struggling with things and was open about past experiences in a way that didn't feel like I was laughing them off, and she made me feel like it was okay to not fit in. I've seen many other mental health professionals since, which has led to many positive changes for me including a diagnosis of autism, but without Catherine having been so welcoming I don't think any of that would have happened.
This is obviously years too late and a place for friends and family, so apologies for the intrusion, but I have letters I've written her to say thank-you and never sent, and I felt I couldn't leave the page without writing something here.

Judy, although I lost touch with Catherine over the years, I do want to remember how much Catherine's presence meant to me in my first years at Tatamagouche Centre. And I want to remember the extraordinary gift of passion and love she gave to so many, including at events at Tatamagouche Centre.
And I send you deepet sympathies, Judy.

Judy, My thoughts are with You during this difficult time of loss. I had the privilege of working alongside Catherine on the Halifax County East Team for several years. Her quick smile and positive attitude always lifted the sprits of those around Her. I will never forget Her generosity and graciousness. She was very wise and never seemed to mind sharing Her knowledge. Sending You much love and warmest condolences.

Catherine did not fit a mold. And that was what made her such a special, vibrant, and interesting person to be around. Never boring - and always kind and authentic in her feelings, thoughts, and actions. And what a wonderful mark to leave on this world!

Sending big love and big hugs to you Judy. I remember Catherine’s fun loving spirit and zest for life. I remember that she was one of the first people I talked to when Zoe was born- I called for you and Catherine answered and she received my new parent exuberance with such love and kindness. I remember doing the chicken dance and laughing as we danced the night away at Betty Anne’s wedding. And I remember how much she supported my friendship with you, encouraging us to stay connected even when life was busy and there were lots of other things to do. I remember a loving and positive person who brought so much good into the world. You are both in my heart. ❤️

I had the pleasure of working with Catherine for many years before her retirement at the Cole Harbour Community Mental Health Clinic. From the first day I started at the clinic Catherine was a welcoming joyful presence. We poked fun at either almost every opportunity, especially to see which of us could get the biggest laugh.
I have thought of you often since your retirement and wish that everyone who has loved you could of had the opportunity to read the discharge summary our team had complied for your retirement celebration. You taught me so much and I have appreciate your spirit.....love always and forever Deborah

So sad to hear. She was well loved on the Cole Harbour team. Her smile, and cheerful spirit welcomed me to the team back in 2007. One thing that stands out for me is that Catherine was always a strong advocate for the client's voice. She was a special woman.
