Obituary of Harold Charles Morgan

Age 90, Halifax, passed away April 17, 2020. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Chester and Lydia Morgan.

He was employed by Sears Canada Inc. with the management group for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was an outstanding athlete while attending Bridgewater High School drawing the attention of the Brooklyn Dodgers and at the age of 17 was invited and attended their spring training camp. He played in the Import Laden H&D Baseball League, with the Halifax Shipyard, the Liverpool Larruppers and professionally in the Pittsburg Pirate Organization with their minor league club in Rehoboth Beach and Delaware until an injury cut short his career. The pride of his life was his family. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and in his retirement years never left home on his daily walk without a pocket full of “treats” for his favorite neighborhood dogs.

He is survived by his wife the former Janet Steadman; daughter, Debbie (Karl Peterson), New Market, Ont.; son, Peter, Halifax; grandchildren, Morgan Peterson, Emily, Taylor, Colby, Alex and Brianna Morgan; sister. Phyllis (Bert), Lunenburg; brother, Gerald (Vera), Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Ruth and Elizabeth.

Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. As per his wishes, a family committal will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Q.E. II Foundation.
