Obituary of Hilda Matchem

Age 83, of Halifax, passed away at home on June 14, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Born on October 1, 1932 in Gaultois, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Elizabeth (Knott) Northcotte. Loving wife, mother, nana and great grandmother. She devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, loved to bake and knit. Her most cherished moments was time spent with her beloved grandchildren who referred to her as "Nana". Hilda is survived by her daughters Mildred (Allan), Wendy (Peter) and Elizabeth (Paul); sons Wade, Barry, Clifford (Liesa), Glen (Treena) and Todd (Kim); grandchildren Gale, Tony (Crystal), Michael (Katelyn), Felicia, Brandon, Brooke, Amanda, Christopher, Austin and Avery; five great grandchildren (was excitingly awaiting her sixth great grandson due any day) Sister Elsie Roberts; special nephews Wilbert (Gladys) and Guy (Jessie) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander, brothers Harold, Jack, Reg, sister Jenny and daughter Sylvia. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax where a visitation will take place Friday June 17th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Service to be held Saturday June 18th, 11am at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Spryfield. Burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery, Halifax. Family flowers only.
