I lived in Purcell’s Cove in the early 60’s and Danny was my best friend. We explored quarries and old forts together, and spent hours hanging out in the tree house that he shared with his brother Steve. Once we took a piece of sharp glass from a shattered pop bottle and cut a short thin line on the top of each of our hands. We then squeezed until a drop of blood surfaced and held our hands together for our blood to mix.
I moved from Purcell’s Cove before I reached my teens, and we didn’t stay in touch, but I will always cherish those precious memories. Rest in piece, my blood brother.

I am so very saddened to hear that Danny has died.
Although we haven't crossed paths much over the past few years I have often thought of him. We worked together at Ultra and I had the marvelous opportunity to be in "the rhythm section" with him in a couple of incarnations of the Ultra house band.
Despite his humble nature, Danny could fill a room with kindness and calm just with his presence and smile. Whenever you spoke with him, you knew you had his full attention. I am a better person for having spent time with him.
In playing, he was completely dedicated to the music and to the band. I don't think I have ever played with someone with a more professional attitude, and watching him run through a song once, then sit ... and concentrate ... and compose his part... just... wow. He would nail the part every single time after that. I am a better musician for having played with him.
I am grateful to have known Danny. I am honoured to have called him a friend. I am sad to know that he is no longer with us.
Lou - I am so very sorry. I remember the way he looked at you. He adored you.

My condolences to the Family and friends of our beloved Danny .
I had the wonderful opportunity to become one of Dannys friends many years ago. We toured together for several years. Danny was such a breeze to work with. No pain no drama.
Danny reminded me of Harpo Marks in some ways. Funnier than a fart in a space suit, gentle and kind, with a sprig of rare musical talent. We used to laugh at his crazy antics until tears ran down our cheeks.
There must be one awesome band in heaven.
R.I.P. Danny boy

Kind and caring, thoughtful and well thought of........loving and well loved. Danny was all those things and much more.
And to be truthful Danny was some what clumsy , if there was something to trip over , knock over or break well Danny was the man for the job.
As Tommy Lynch told me one time with a smile on his face " Frank, it was always an adventure being in a band with Danny, you never knew what he was going to break next " But true to form with Danny he was always the first one to laugh even if it was at his own expense.
I always wondered if all the Iceton boys had a special gene that nobody else had , that made them such great musicians and such great hockey players..........Danny was both , he could play anything you put in front of him and man he could skate like the wind..
I am certainly going to miss him , but he will always be in my heart..........especially when I hear The Beatles..............
My daughter Carrie summed Danny up the other day when she said to me " Dad , Danny was such a nice man"
All my love to all who loved him as much as i did.........................Frank Anderson

I have such great memories of working with Danny at Ultra and as a friend. He was so positive, so happy and always had a smile on his face. I loved our daily hockey chats - and even when his Habs weren't doing very well, he would always look on the bright side.
He used to come out to play hockey with us at lunch and sometimes he would forget some of his gear - that wouldn't stop him - I've seen him use old newspaper or cardboard for shinguards! He loved his life and I know he felt so lucky to have Lou by his side. She was his rock and he loved her deeply.
Thought I would share this photo of Danny in his Habs shirt the last time I saw him. Even though he was having such a tough time, he still had that smile.
I will miss Danny and feel very lucky to have had the chance to spend time with him.
Paul (Your British mate!).

Mary, Louise, Bonnie, Stephen, Jimmy and all of Danny’s family. I am so sorry to hear of Danny’s passing. I have lots of wonderful memories of Danny from growing up in the cove. He was such a gifted musician. As kids, we loved watching him play the drums when he was practicing at the Boudreau’s next door. Keep all of your wonderful memories of Danny close to your heart.
