Obituary of Daniel John Frederick Jones

65, Ketch Harbour, NS, passed away December 21, 2020 at his home in Ketch Harbour, NS after a sudden illness.  Daniel was born in Halifax, the son of John Taylor Jones and Isabel Jean (Devinney) Jones.  He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Edith “Edie” (Martin) Jones in April 2019 after 35 years of marriage. For many years the focus of Dan’s life was providing excellent care to Edie at home following her stroke.  

Dan followed his own path in life and enjoyed many adventures.  He aspired to the belief that if it is worth doing, it is worth doing well which was seen in his work and hobbies.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, knife making, photography, games, cooking and baking and being in nature. 

Dan is survived by his parents John and Isabel Jones, his siblings Kathy McCarthy (Randy) and David Jones (Krista); Edie’s siblings, Marjie Gray, James Martin (Cathy), Peter Martin and Patsy Oakley; nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank all the health providers in Truro and in Halifax that provided excellent and timely assistance to Dan during this difficult time and allowed him to remain at home.

Cremation is taking place with a celebration of life at a later date.  Those who wish to honour Dan, please see the opportunities to provide kindness and assistance to others with him in mind.
