We were so sad to learn of Gary’s passing. He was a great champion of our community of Spryfield. He & Diane loved the community and were totally invoked in making it a better place to live, work and play. As fellow business owners here, we all had a great time as business partners, community involvement snd most importantly , friends. Gary will be missed! R.I.P. - Lynn & Fred O’Hearn

I’m truly at a loss for words. I lost one of the most important people in my life today, my grandfather. Grampy, you were always there for me since day one. I was told that you were the first one to hold me in the hospital because you fought dad a bit because you were so excited. You were my biggest fan and I, yours. I’ve looked up to you my entire life, you’re the smartest man that I have ever known, and ever will know. You were my first teacher, always reading to me and teaching me some of my first words including “nocturnal”, “apothecary” and “ominous” to name a few. You taught me so many things in life and I will be forever thankful. I became a geologist because you noticed that I loved to collect rocks as a little girl, and you told me that if I like rocks then I should think about becoming a geologist one day. I think I was about 4 years old when you told me that. Fast forward to two years ago when you got to see me receive my Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Earth Science. I’m glad that you’ve always been there for me and I know that I’ve made you proud. I hope to continue making you proud every day and I hope that you’ll be watching over me. I will never be able to fit how much you mean to me in one post, but I know that I would never be where I’m at today if it weren’t for you. I’ll love and miss you forever. Love from your granddaughter

To Garry’s family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Garry was an amazing man, he always had a story or life experience to tell. I will miss hearing his larger than life laughter, which could be heard all over the campground or Walmart when he thanked me for Jell-O shots, only he called them something different.
