Ernest Izzard

Obituary of Ernest Jerome Izzard

58, Halifax, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his home.  Born in Antigonish, NS, and grew up in Guysborough, NS, he is a son of Ralph and the late Anna Mae (Horne) Izzard.  Throughout his life, Ernie worked with various moving companies, a job that took him all across Canada.  He also worked along side his father, Ralph part-time as a lobster fisherman.  Family meant everything to Ernie, especially his only son, Daniel “Dan the Man”, and his partner of 31 years, Heather.  He and Daniel, who Ernie loved more than life,  had a very special bond and for many years they would fist pump one another, followed by a “Ya Man!”.    Ernie was a private and simple man, who was an avid fan of both the Montreal Canadians and the Toronto Blue Jays.  He enjoyed playing a variety of games on the computer, especially Wheel of Fortune.  He is survived by his loving partner, Heather Slade, his beloved son, Daniel “Danny”, his father, Ralph, sister, Marina (Lawrence), brother, Ralph (Martha), his father-in-law, William “Bill” Slade, as well as many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, too many to mention, but he loved you all.  He is also survived by a good friend and co-worker, Ray Dawe.  He was predeceased by his mother, Anna Mae, a brother, Horatio Izzard, his mother-in-law, Kathleen Slade, his paternal grandparents, Mamie and Burton Izzard, maternal grandfather, Charles Horne, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., and there will be no visitation or funeral in keeping with how private and simple Ernie really was.  In memory of Ernie, please make donations to the family by visiting https://gofundme/3a822642. When you think of Ernie, please extend a wave, a honk, a fist pump, or a “Ya Man!” as you pass by Daniel “Danny” in remembrance of his dad.
