Annie Spaargaren

Obituary of Annie Marie Spaargaren

65, Halifax, passed away on October 20, 2021 at the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, NS.  Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter of the late William and Marie (Mantel) Spaargaren.  Annie dedicated her life to taking care of others as a personal care worker.  For 3 decades, she worked for Arborstone Enhanced Care, selflessly taking care of the residents like they were her own family.  Annie loved her family dearly and each one knew that in their own special way; she was more than proud of them all.  She was a proud and active member of the Spryfield Community, always willing to lend a helping hand.  Annie will be remembered for her passion of travel, always looking to travel somewhere new and meet new people.  She had an adventurous heart, and thoroughly enjoyed tubing, water slides, and even roller coasters!  Annie will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Cornelia “Corrie” (Andrew Campbell) and her son, Shane Spaargaren (Jaimi Baker), a sister, Catherina Spaargaren, two brothers, William Spaargaren (Kerin), and Robert Spaargaren (Sharon), her five beloved grandchildren, Clorissa Spaargaren, Ryland Baker-Spaargaren, Aron Campbell, Camden Spaargaren, and Jase Spaargaren, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her dear friends, Jocelyn Field, Azeb Wubete, and Jean Sabean.  Annie was predeceased at a young age by her parents, and was also predeceased by a best friend, Debbie MacPhee.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in Annie’s home town of Amherst on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 1pm at The Amherst Cemetery.  To attend the graveside service, proof of vaccination will be required.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in her memory be made to The Spryfield Boys and Girls Club, a cause to which she had dedicated many years of volunteer work
