Obituary of Leola Elizabeth Anastasia Farrell

Leola Elizabeth Farrell, 95, passed from this life on Sat. Nov. 27 at the QEII Hospital, Halifax. Born in Antigonish, Sept. 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leo Farrell and Catherine Farrell, nee Chisholm. She is predeceased by her brothers, Finlay Farrell (Margaret); Archibald Farrell, sisters, Josephine Kraftchek (Bronis);  Delores Hall (Donald); Cecilia Sandford (James). She is survived by her sister Gloria Delaney, ON. 

Leola spent the first half of her life in Antigonish moving to Halifax in 1967. Most of her years were spent serving her family and others, taking care of her many nephews and nieces along with grand nephews and nieces. She was an extraordinary seamstress who caught the eye of Suttles and Seawinds doing part time work for them for several years. She as well had clients on the side from all genres of careers who made use of her sewing skills whether it was a full suit or to hem up a pair of pants. She made all the bridesmaids dresses for her nephew Ken's wedding in 1985. 

Leola was never a person who enjoyed having her picture taken. On many occasions, anyone who had possession of a camera, made it a point to tease Leola by taking her picture. Her response brought many chuckles from those around her. 

She will be greatly missed by numerous family members and friends along with the joy she has always brought into our lives. Loved forever. 

A small service will take place in Antigonish, inside the crypt at St. Ninian's on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
