It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Girolamo Angelo “Jerry” Balzan at his residence in Halifax, NS on January 24, 2022. He was born in Chiupamo Vincensa, Italy on January 22, 1937.

Jerry worked hard in the concrete business in various parts of the USA, Quebec, PEI and Nova Scotia. He was an entrepreneur, owing Eastern Concrete, Empire Concrete Ltd., and Terazo Flooring business throughout his life. Many sites throughout the city have been created by Jerry leaving his mark of a strong work ethic. He was a devoted husband as well as a wonderful father and grandfather. 

Surviving are his wife Lucia Balzan, sons Anthony, Mario and Ivano, grandson Nicholas Balzan, granddaugher Grace Balzan and sister Angelina Castelli as well as many nieces and nephews.

We would like to express our profound gratitude to Dr. Patrick Somers and special thanks to Anna Hilton, Elizebeth Enman, Kathy White and Lynn Berry.
