Obituary of Hilda Ann Bourgeois

Age 84, It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Hilda Bourgeois of Halifax on April 25, 2022 at home with her children by her side. She was the daughter of the late William and Clara McNamara.

She is predeceased by her husband of 48 years William Bourgeois. Hilda is survived by son Glen McNamara, daughters Lynn Patterson and Shelly (Fred) Norman,  grandchildren, Raymond, Andrew (Christine) and Jessica, great-grandchild Vanessa, sisters Stella and Joan, brothers Gerald and Eddy-Harold, as well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Hilda is predeceased by sisters Ellen and Lorraine and brothers James, Michael, Billy and Maurice.

She was born and lived in Evanston, Cape Breton until she left for Halifax where she worked as a waitress at the Garden View Restaurant. This is when she met the love of her life Willie. They married and settled in Spryfield where they raised their family and then helped with caring for their grandchildren. She loved a good game of cards with family, enjoyed going to Sunday bingo with friends and chatting with her sisters and brothers. She will be greatly missed.

Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax where visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 6-8 PM. Mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to follow at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
