Obituary of Everett Raymond Murphy
In Loving Memory of Everett Raymond Murphy, 1937 – 2022
Age 85, Herring Cove, passed away at home on Thursday October 6, 2022. He was the son of the late James Leo and Margaret (Barkhouse) Murphy. Raymond is survived by his four children: Paula Doncaster (Ken) Huntsville. ON, Heather Murphy, Pictou, NS, Dawn and Scott (Shelley) Murphy both of Hatchett Lake, NS; Grandchildren Benjamin, Logan, Molly and Anna. Sisters, Betty Blom (Gerald) Pat Connors, Mary Sutherland. Brothers, Donald (Sandra) and David (Donna)as well as many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife Susan (McNeil) and brother Leo Murphy. Raymond had many achievements in his life of which we are very proud of. He was a founding member of the Herring Cove Volunteer Fire Department in 1967, serving many years as it’s Fire Chief, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third and Fourth Degree. As a self-employed person, he passed on his solid work ethic to us all but always ensured to balance life with making loving memories with his wife, children and friends through figure skating, travelling and scuba diving, although his greatest joys were hunting and fishing with his son Scott and having his whole family together to celebrate every special occasion.
Raymond was a man of patience, strength, kindness and gentle spirit. He was a man of few words but when he spoke, people listened. He will remain forever in our hearts.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia. In keeping with Everett’s wishes there will be a funeral service held at Stella Maris Parish, 6 St. Michael's Avenue on Friday October 21, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow.
