Obituary of Wanda Marie MacDonald
Born in Sydney in 1943, the second eldest daughter of James Elmer MacDonald and Anne Ardelli. She was predeceased by her sister Carole MacDonald and brother Allan MacDonald. She is survived by her two daughters Tracy Gorman (Bob Webber), Kori Gorman (Paul Hume) and grandson (Zach Gocool) all of Toronto. She also leaves her siblings Bonita, Jeannette and Eleanor, their spouses and families. Cremation has taken place. Memorial to take place at a later date. Just days ago, Wanda celebrated her 80th birthday on January 17th surrounded by family, pints and pizza, laughing with the infectious spirit we will so dearly miss. She is already deeply missed and will continue to be so. It’s very hard to believe she’s gone. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother even though her children’s lives took them to Ontario. Our mom had a deep love of art and creation of all kinds. Her greatest passions were singing and acting. She was also a talented sculpture, painter, gardener, quilter/seamstress. All joys she shared with her family and friends; it was infectious. Although she raised her family in New Brunswick, her heart and soul belonged to Cape Breton. Memories of fiddles, pipes, pierogies and kitchen parties will forever be cherished by all of us. Mom graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Saint John General Hospital. She ended her nursing career in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck, NS. She also dedicated much of her time to various health and environmental community initiatives close to her homes, both in New Brunswick and Cape Breton.
