I only got to know Michael when he arrived at St John the Baptist as the pianist. He was so gifted. The Angels in Heaven are singing God's praise with Michael at the stool playing. Thank you Michael. You will be missed.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of our Uncle Mike. I have great memories of his visits to my parent's home, Bob and Denise Carney of Toronto, and was fortunate to have had a few visits to Halifax over that past 10 years to visit Uncle Mike. Our family's thoughts and prayers go out to his sister's Joyce and Janet and their families. He will be missed!

i read on Facebook today of the passing of Michael Carney. This caught my eye as I have been doing some very amateur genealogy on my Father's side of my family and I believe we are related. First of all please let me extend my condolences on your loss. I would have loved to have had the chance to meet this gentleman who has been described as a lovely man. My grandmother was Margaret Adelaide Hogan nee: Carney. Her older brother was Dr Michael Carney and her Father was Michael Carney MP for Halifax from 1904-1908. My Father was Louis Richardson Hogan son of Dr Edward Vincent Hogan and Margaret Hogan. I would love the opportunity to find out more on my Grandmother's side of my family if anyone would be interested in contacting me. Again let me extend my sympathy to all Michael's family

My sincere condolences to Michael's family. I got to know Michael when he was the organist and choir director at St. Michael's. My late husband George helped out with the organ playing (Saturday Mass) and with the choir. My husband very much admired Michael I enjoyed Michael's beautiful organ playing at St. Michael's. He was a very gifted musician and a very nice person. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I am sad to learn of Michael's death and especially sorry that I have missed his funeral. I hope there was lots of wonderful music. Michael was a wonderful gentle man and a grand support to me when I served as Liturgy Director for the Archdiocese of Halifax. We shared a love and respect for worship and the significant role that music played in the prayer of the community. Michael was always so gracious, sending lovely notes of encouragement and appreciation. I am very grateful for our friendship. May the angels welcome him to Paradise with songs of joy!

I worked with Mike at NSP/NSPC from the late 60's until his retirement THEREFORE A LOT OF YEARS.BEGINNING IN THE COMPUTER DIVISION AND ENDING WITH HIM AUDITING SYSTEMS WE HAD BUILT. WE HAD A LOT OF WORKING FUN AND TRAVELED TOGATHER MANY TIMES TO MONTREAL. As AN AUDITOR HE CERTAINLY WAS THOROUGH AND KEPT ME HONEST IN REGARD TO SYSTEM SECURITY... I SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME WITH HIM EVEN TOOK HIM HOME TO MEET MY PARENTS AND HAVE A COUNTRY WEEK-END I BELEIVE HE EVEN WORE SHIRT/TIE /SUIT IN THAT RUSTIC ENVIRONMENT......GREAT GUY VERY LOYAL AND TRUSTED FRIEND
